Managing Activity History with Story Logs

Overview

Story Logs (also called activity logs, history logs, or audit trails) track all actions and notes for any record in E2E. Every time someone makes a change or adds a note, it appears in the Story Log. The Story Log captures a record of all interactions, providing a valuable thread for reference for the team as a relationship or project evolves.

Common Uses

  • Adding notes after customer conversations
  • Recording internal comments on proposals
  • Tracking who changed what and when
  • Documenting decision rationale
  • Sharing updates with team members

How Story Logs Work Across EIIƎ

Item details views such as customer, enquiry, order include an action panel containing primary actions including Add to Story button. This allows users to quickly log important updates and notes and to update the status of the item.

The story log also captures other activities, e.g. creating a new enquiry from a customer record creates a new story log entry on both the customer and enquiry records, providing quick cross-references to users. Activities that trigger story log entries include:

  • Creating new records (e.g., enquiries, proposals)
  • Changing the status of records (e.g., enquiry status changes)

To add a note :

  1. Navigate to the item detail view
  2. Click Add to Story in the Actions panel
  3. Enter your note, e.g. with details about the conversation or decision
  4. Click Save

The Story Log Interface

Users can filter entries by type (e.g., Meetings, Enquiries, etc.). Select an entry to view its details. Tip: click the bubbles to quickly navigate between related entries.

The full Story Log can be exported as a CSV file if needed by clicking on the Export button if user has the right exporting rights.

What appears in Customer Story Logs:

  • Notes and comments from team members
  • Status changes (e.g., Active → Inactive)
  • Related record creation (new enquiries, proposals)
  • Contact information updates
  • Contract modifications
  • Meeting schedules
