Adding Choice Fields

Text Option field, which is a field such that when user completes this field in a form they will chose from a list of multiple options. Depending on configuration settings this may be a single choice or allow multiple choice.

Say we want to add a field named Source indicating the source of an opportunity, either an ad campaign, a referral, a trade show or an existing customer. Go to the enquiry view settings, e.g. clicking the cog icon at the bottom of the enquiries table.

From the table listing the existing columns select the Add... button to begin adding a column. Navigate to the Column tab and enter a label for the column - in our case 'Source'. Move to the next tab. From here select Text Option as the type of the new column. Move to the next tab. Here on the Format tab we'll pick a choice group. A choice group is collection of choices or options for the text option field.

Click on the selector to open a pop-up that shows a list of existing choice groups. From here you can add a new group or select an item from the list to view / edit existing groups.

This example shows a new group Enquiry Source. Click on the View/Edit Choices button to add choice options to the group. Click the Add... button to add choices

Add the choices using the form. Include a sort order if required.

Close the choice group form to go back to the group selection.

Click Use Selected Group when you're happy with the choices set-up.

Back on the Format tab you have the option of allowing the user single or multiple selections from the list of options. App filters and searches support single selections more readily than multiple selections, thus choose single selection where possible.

Click next to move to the Default tab. Here you can optionally select a default value from the list of options. Note that when adding a new column to existing data, the default value will be applied to existing records.

Click next and review the configuration selections then Submit to apply the changes to the app.

The changes should now be availble where you view and edit enquiries:
